Amsterdam Weather and Historic Climate

Amsterdam is likely to be one of the most photographed cities in the world. Amsterdam has a lively night life, great shopping, and some of the world's finest art on display. It's a manageable city to travel in; buildings are limited in size by unstable soil, giving Amsterdam a village-like feel.

Amsterdam's weather is quite mild throughout the year, and it's changeable. That shouldn't deter you from visiting the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, a spring shower is a fine chance to duck into a Bruine ("brown") café.

Amsterdam, Netherlands - When To Go

Amsterdam tourist season runs from April to September, but a majority of the tourists come in the summer, when the weather is warmer.

Tulip season is mid-April to mid-May. The nearby Keukenhof Gardens
opens around March 20 and closes around May 20. This is a great time to come to Amsterdam, but you'll probably end up buying an umbrella if you haven't brought one with you.
