Reggio di Calabria is located at the toe of Italy's boot, at the base of the Aspromonte mountains across from Sicily. It is home to such tourist attractions as the Aragonese Castle, Cathedral, and the National Museum housing the Bronzi di Riace statues.

Reggio di Calabria can be stiflingly hot in the summer, although dry. The typical Mediterranean climate offers a rainy season from October through February.
